Rates

Proofreading and copy-editing rates for documents in Word depend on the length and complexity of the document, the level of editing required, and the turnaround time. However, a minimum charge is applied to jobs with a word count below 1,000.

Proofreading of PDFs is charged at an hourly rate or an agreed fixed fee. 

Conversion jobs and editorial consultancy are charged at an hourly rate.

My rates are in line with the minimum rates recommended by the Association of Freelance Editors, Proofreaders and Indexers of Ireland (AFEPI).

Booking and payment policy (for individuals)

In order for me to confirm your booking, and before I start your work, I require full payment in advance.

Please contact me at the email address* below for a quote, stating the type of document you wish me to edit or proofread, the number of words involved, and the estimated schedule (the date at which you can send the document and the date at which you need it to be returned).

Surcharge for out-of-hours work

For urgent jobs (booked with less than a week’s notice) that require me to work outside normal office hours (09.00-17.00, Monday to Friday), or during my scheduled holidays, I apply a surcharge.

Payment method

I accept payment by bank transfer.

VAT

Irish Academic Editing does not currently charge VAT.
